So Beautiful -- Delaware Glamour Photographer

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I just found out that the contact area of the Beautiful You by Kate site isn't working. So, if by chance you did send me a message via the contact area of that site, I didn't get it. I'm sorry. This is what happens when non-technies (a.k.a, me) try and put Web stuff together. It should be fixed soon. Meanwhile, please use preciousmemoriespix@gmail.com if you need to contact me. Thanks : )

You belong on a billboard ... (YES. YOU!)

One of the things I love the most about my job is when someone tells me that their photo session and their pictures really made them feel good about themselves. Girls today are bombarded with images of "perfection" right from the time they venture out of their houses or turn on their TVs. And we all know that the images aren't "real." They're a combination of good lighting, wardrobe, make-up, photoshop, etc., etc., etc. But even still, it can start to wreak some havoc on your self esteem ... if you let it. It's easy to start thinking, "I don't look like that. I'm not pretty." So, I love having the chance to show girls that they are just as gorgeous as the women on magazine covers. Yes, you belong on a billboard, too. And with this oh-so fun little Web site I just found (thanks to the ever-fabulous and super-duper talented Tara Whitney), now we have the absolute proof that it's true ...

I'm actually insanely backed-up right now with editing, so I wouldn't have been able to make these pictures on my own. Thankfully, with PhotoFunia, a totally free site, all you have to do is upload an image of your face, and within seconds, you get some pretty fun results.

Yes ... this next one is me. I choose to believe that somewhere in the world, this is going on right now. Well, not really. That would actually be pretty creepy.

And here I am again. With my blonde (sigh) hair. It was looking like it might be able to come back for the summer. Those dreams, however, were crushed by good old Uncle Sam. Ah, well. Maybe I'll try the old-fashioned lemon and chamomile trick this summer.

Back to editing it is for me. Here's hoping for a dry and warm day tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!
Kate

Clothes in the Past Lane -- Delaware Commercial Photographer

A few years back, a new little store opened up on Main St. in Newark. I had heard that they carry vintage clothes (which I HEART), so I popped in ... and fell in love. As I was hunting around, I looked down and saw a crazy-looking chair. It was so familiar. I kept staring at it and staring at it. "Why do I know this chair?" I wondered. And then it hit me. I made this chair!! I used to sell hand-painted furniture to local resale shops, which is where Sandi found it. At the time, I was looking to unload a giant closet of polyester and vintage clothing, so I invited her over to check them out. I mean, hey, if she liked my chair, she was sure to like my clothes, right? Well fast-forward a few years. Her awesome little store is still going strong and is still filled with a mix of both old and new (and my chair!). Well, I was very thrilled when she asked me if I'd take some pictures of her lovely daughter Allie modeling some of the vintage duds from the store. One of the pictures will be used in an upcoming UDress ad. We had the best time wandering around Main St., campus, the Newark train station, Creek Road, and White Clay Park (whew!). Sure, there were a few mishaps. Near death by train, for one. But we made it ... and I love how the pictures are turning out.

Oh, I love this next one something fierce!

And this next one, too ...

And this next one might be my favorite so far. LOVE the attitude. And those calves. Rarrr!

And this last one is for Allie's Mom. Allie said, "My Mom hates it when I make this face." Sorry, Sandi.

Thanks for being such an awesome, awesome model, Allie. I had the best time working with you. The rest of the pictures will be ready soon!

Happy Monday ...
Kate

I Owe WHAT?! -- Delaware Fashion Photographer

Oh, it's sooo past my bedtime. But, I'm still sitting here a little shell-shocked. This is my first year filing taxes as a self-employed individual, and all I can say is ... WHAT?! Seriously?! Sigh. The following picture cheers me up, though. It's a preview to the real preview (that I'll post tomorrow) from one of my fabulous sessions on Saturday. Vintage always makes me happy.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! - Kate

Buy an Outfit ... Get a Free Session! -- Delaware Child Photographer

UPDATE: The spot has been filled. I'm sorry to keep you all hanging! I was waiting to confirm with the person who was the first to email me ... and I just did. So, congratulations Lisa!! I'm so looking forward to working with little Katie. I'll be offering some more opportunities like this one in the near future. So, keep checking the blog!

If you're a late-night blog reader, then this just might be your night! Personally, I'm sitting here with my eyelids propped open, ready to just go to bed WITHOUT washing my face or brushing my teeth. I'm that tired. (I won't though. I'll wash, brush, and apply tons of anti-wrinkle cream.) This is day number three of my attempt to eliminate caffeine from my diet. It's rough. But, I'm doing good. I'm down from 48 ounces a day (I know, I know ... that's ridiculous!) to just 12. But man. I sure do drag. And I feel like I have the flu. Which apparently is normal. And I tend to blab on and on before getting to the point. So, let me do that now. I came across this ridiculously cute outfit at the Children's Place. Doesn't it just look like something I would wear? It's so vintage looking -- I love it. And I've decided that I MUST photograph a little one wearing it! I must. So, the first person who e-mails me to confirm that he or she will purchase the complete outfit (and you have to do it as soon as I respond ... not days later ... inventory is nearly gone!) will receive a complimentary 45-minute on-location session and 3 free 5X7 prints. Both outfits are right around $50. The first is for big girls (4-14) and the second is for little girls (6m -4T). The session must be held in the next few weeks. And yes, you'll be eligible for the $5,000 contest!! Whoo hoo! Oh, and you also have to allow me to use the insanely cute pictures on my Web site. Because they WILL be insanely cute!

Big girls (4-14)

Little girls (6m-4T)

E-mail me now! I'll announce the winner tomorrow morning after I've had my 8 ounces of coffee. I'm sooo going to bed now.
