School Pictures
Hear that? That's the sound of a grumpy old photographer setting up camp in your local school cafeteria. My stomach drops just thinking about it. And sadly, my parents house is still a museum to some of the worst school pictures ever. Let's see ... there's my eighth grade shot, complete with giant teased up bangs and a shiny forehead. Why didn't the photographer offer me a tissue to blot up that mess before he forever captured the sad look. Then there's the second grade picture where no one bothered to tell me that the red plastic flower clip in my hair (no, really) was crooked. And then there's the awful senior shots (both high school and college). The photographer attempted to give my hair a softly-lit look, but managed to just draw attention to all my fly-aways. And the cheesy pose in front of the backdrop of books just takes it to a whole new level. If ONLY artistic photography was as popular back then as it is now. Maybe that's why school-year and senior portraits are one of my favorite areas of photography. It's so much fun to capture pictures that really show off a student and his or her tastes, passions, and interests.
My last two sessions were with Christina and Rachel ... and we had so much fun on both shoots. For Christina's senior shoot, we headed to Gibraltor Gardens in Wilmington. Her mom was really hoping for some traditional drape shots, so we accomplished that and then went and then did some casual clothes shots.
