High Contrast B/W -- Newark, DE Photographer

The contest is officially over. Thanks so much for all of your entries. There are lots of deserving people out there. Well, actually, I think everyone who was nominated deserves to win. That's why I'm not the judge! The winner will be announced here on the blog in a week or so. Meanwhile, here are some images I've just completed that I really love. Sometimes high contrast black and whites can be so striking. Hope everyone has a great weekend!:) - Kate

Another preview for Kathy. SOOOO precious!

I know Tanna is going to freak out when she sees this ... (I know I did!)

Note to all friends of Aiden: If you want to buy him a present anytime soon, make it a pair of rain boots. He LOVES puddles.

Two Sisters - Child Photography, Newark, DE

LAST CALL! You have until 5:00 p.m. today to nominate a friend for a free session and prints! Thanks for all of the entries so far!! Some people have asked if they can submit more than one entry. Of course!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their long weekend! It was business as usual for me yesterday as I headed out to visit with Kathy and Jesse and their little girls. I can't believe how much Kaitlynn has grown! I photographed her when she was just a couple of months old ... and now she's running around and has quite the personality! She seems completely in love with her tiny little sister, Nadia -- who, looks sooooo much like her Uncle Mark. The girls share a room that happens to have the BEST light ever. With two large windows, mirrors for closest doors, and a warm color on the walls, the light just swims around the room. But Kaitlynn took us into another room for pictures (as you can see below!), which happens to be another amazing room for light. So, I was spoiled yesterday with cuteness and amazing lighting. I know her Mom is anxiously awaiting her preview ... so here we go:) Enjoy! - Kate

Kaitlynn came up with this pose all on her own!! With kids, you just have to be ready for anything!

Time's running out to nominate a friend for a free session and prints! Thanks for all of the entries so far!! Some people have asked if they can submit more than one entry. Sure. Feel free to nominate as many friends as you like! Just be sure to do it before Friday!!

Ugh. It's been a long and dreary day for me. So, I pulled out some of my favorite pictures from past sessions to help brighten my day ... well, night, actually. If you've been on my site before, then you've no doubt already seen these pictures. But, no matter how many times I see them, they never fail to bring a smile to my face. Enjoy:) - Kate

Snowy Day at Longwood Gardens -- Part II

I have sooo many cute pictures from our Longwood Session! Here are a few more of my favorites ...

The images below are compressed. Click here to visit the online gallery with uncompressed images.

I was wondering if Christian would like the snow. So, I unzipped him from his warm little hideout. Here's the answer ...

Now he's happy!

The super-duper-DUPER excited look!

Not only can she throw a mean snowball ... but she's been so well trained by her Aunt Kate that she stops and poses for the camera first -- without my asking. Nicely done!

Snowy Day at Longwood Gardens

What a gorgeous snowy day!! I had plans to photograph my dynamic duo (plus one!) today at Longwood for an upcoming marketing piece. (Side note: The piece is for two special events I'll be holding in January. One will be a weekday and the other a Saturday. Both will be mini-sessions at Longwood Gardens with both my travel and entrance fee waived. Plus, all prints will be discounted 10%! Stay tuned for more info ...) So, on our way there, Kristin and I were talking about how neither of us can fall asleep right away at night. I find that conversation quite ironic now because tonight I think I'm going to sleep like a baby! Why? Because I spent half the day playing like one! We had a BLAST trekking around in the snow and then running around like maniacs in the Children's Garden. If you haven't visited the new Children's Garden at Longwood ... you should! The kids LOVE it! And it's such a wonderful place to take pictures. As you can see on their faces, the little ones were absolutely enchanted by all nature has to offer. And it was so nice to meet our old friend Susan's (and by "old," I mean long-time!) little guy, Christian. He's such a cutie pie:)

So, we'll start preview one off with Ms. "no-pictures-please, no-pictures-please" Maliya. I'll post some more when I'm not so sleepy. Hope everyone enjoyed our first real snowfall. I'm looking forward to lots of fun sessions this winter. It's supposed to be a snowy one! - Kate

Look at that face! He was so excited to find the fountain!
