The Joy of Winning -- Delaware Portrait Photographer

It always feels good to win ... even if there isn't a prize. Especially when the contest involves a picture of the cutest, most sweetest person in the world -- your child. Rachel & Dan's little sweetie pea hasn't even been here three weeks yet and his little mug is getting noticed : ) I entered his picture in the iHEARTfaces contest last week, and he landed in the top 10.



The iHEARTfaces blog isn't about cash prizes ... it's just about celebrating the beauty of the human face, while recognizing the talent of both amateur and professional photographers. I'm VERY excited to announce, however, that sometime this week I'll be posting information about an upcoming contest that is all about photographic excellence, adorable children, and a $5,000 grand prize. Here's the exciting part ... the prize goes to the family of the child, not the photographer. That's right, YOU have the chance to win $5,000 in this contest. All sessions scheduled between March 1 and June 1 will be eligible. The contest is for pictures of children ages 12 and under. One picture from each session will be submitted to win. But, like I said, more on that later this week!!!

Meanwhile, here are a few photos that I shot on Friday during my photography lesson with Shawn. It was our very first class, so we tried out a fun activity. Each of us received a word (written in both French and English since both he and his Mom are learning French!), and we had to go around the house and yard and shoot pictures that we felt brought the word to life. My word was beauty. Dog lover that I am, I went straight for this little guy's face. 

This very cool chandelier is absolutely a thing of beauty. And I sure do wish it was hanging in my house!

Hey, did you know it's going to snow?? Really, really snow??!! I just found the following weather alert:

BASED ON THE LATEST FORECAST TRACK OF THE STORM, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH 8 TO 14 INCHES OF SNOW WILL FALL IN THE NEW JERSEY COUNTIES OF SALEM, CUMBERLAND AND ATLANTIC, IN THE MARYLAND COUNTIES OF CECIL AND KENT, AND IN NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE.

For those of you who were still hoping for snow pictures this year ... this might be the week for you! We'll have to see what happens. It sure is crazy considering the fact that it was 64 two days ago. Sigh. That's Delaware for you.
