Kates are Great! -- Delaware Portrait Photographer

I first met Kate a little over a year ago when I went down to Milford and shot some adorable pictures of her four little ones for her online clothing boutique, Barefoot Bella. Her kids are adorable ... and she even has her very own set of twins! But this time, we left the kiddies at home : ) Our goal for this session was to capture a nice portrait of Kate for her brand new blog for moms who are (or would like to) work from home. Check it out! And then the frosting on the cake was just some anytime photos. I think every lady deserves anytime photos.

As we hopped in the car, Kate "warned" me that she doesn't like having her picture taken. She's not the first girl to tell me that. In fact, more than half of the fabulous ladies I've worked with over the last few years have all said the same thing: "I hate having my picture taken." And usually they add in, "I NEVER like how I look in pictures." Well, I think Kate looks fabulous in her pictures. Absolutely fabulous! I'm going to start off with a bang and share two of my absolute favorites ...

When is THE worst time to take pictures on the beach? 12:00 p.m. on a cloudless day. All of that bright, bright light reflecting off of white sand can turn even the most smooth-skinned baby into a little Benjamin Button. But hey, sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles ... you end up on the beach at 12:00 and you find a way to make it work. And somehow, we did : )

Actually this is a reverse posting. We started the day off in downtown Milford and then went to the beach. The main street area in Milford has such cool old buildings.

Something about Kate in some of these next pictures totally reminds me of the late, and very lovely, Natasha Richardson.

I feel so totally happy when I look at the next picture!!! The smile is totally contagious.

And then we'll end things with another one of my favorites. A classic head-shot look, achieved with nothing more than a chipped up old garage door as a background and some very reflective surfaces (aka, cars) across the way.

Hey Kate, did you know that we spell our full names the same way?! I thought I was the only Katharine out there. Well, except Katharine Hepburn, of course!

I hope everyone has a looooovely weekend. I'll be checking back in tomorrow with a cuter-than-cute preview of two insanely gorgeous sisters (I'm not exaggerating. Their parents should just lock them up now). And then I'll be posting my yet-to-be-shot session from today sometime before the long weekend is up. I'm working hard to get completely caught up before I leave for Maine on Tuesday. I'll be gone through June 6. I will be checking phone messages and e-mails, though. This trip is really only partially a vacation. I'll still be working, so feel free to contact me with questions or to schedule an upcoming session.

Now, go get outside!
